Frequently asked questions

About Vinted Pay and your Balance

What is Vinted Pay?

We're a payment services provider, which means we manage sellers' Vinted Balances, where all their earnings are sent and stored safely. We help sellers withdraw funds to their bank account or use them to pay for purchases on Vinted.

The main way you'll interact with Vinted Pay is when using your Vinted Balance, so we've added some information on how that works below.

Vinted Balance: how it works

Your Vinted Balance is a secure wallet that stores the earnings from items sold on Vinted. Here's what you can do with the funds:

  • Withdraw them to your bank account
  • Spend them on Vinted

You can't top up your Vinted Balance, it only stores the earnings from sold items.

How to activate your Vinted Balance

You need to activate your Vinted Balance to start selling on Vinted:

  1. Hit the Profile icon
  2. Select Balance
  3. Select Activate your Vinted Balance
  4. Enter your full name, nationality, date of birth and address (these details will be stored safely)
Why is my Balance pending?

When a buyer pays for an item, this payment appears as "Pending" in your Vinted Balance.

Funds under "Pending Balance" are temporarily stored by Vinted Pay until the order is completed.

Identity checks

Why you may be asked for your ID

We may ask you to provide personal data to verify your identity as part of a "Know Your Customer" (KYC) or "Know Your Business" (KYB) check whilst using Vinted Pay.

This is a legally required process that helps keep Vinted safe and prevent illegal activities like fraud and money laundering.

If you're required to complete a KYC or KYB check, all you have to do is:

  1. Review the information you provided when you activated your Vinted Balance
  2. Take photos of certain documents and/or yourself via the secure upload form
  3. Make sure all your details are accurate and your photos are clear

Why is Vinted Pay asking me for personal information or documents?

To provide you with secure payments, we have to comply with legal and regulatory obligations in the UK. From time to time, we are required to carry out routine checks. We may need to ask you for some additional information about yourself or request supporting documentary evidence.

If we reach out to request information or documents from you, please provide them as soon as possible. Promptly submitting the requested details ensures your account remains fully compliant and prevents any temporary restrictions on your Vinted account.

We'll store your data safely and only use it to fulfill our legal requirements and keep our community safe.

Withdrawals and fees

How to withdraw earnings to your bank account

Withdrawals are transfers of money from your Vinted Balance to your bank account.

If you're withdrawing your Vinted Pay UK balance to a UK payment account we'll typically aim to deliver your funds same day. Withdrawals initiated over the weekend or a bank holiday may only get processed the next working day - this is because we work with banks and can only send money when they're open.

Be sure to add your bank details to your account first, then follow these steps to withdraw your earnings:

  1. Go to your Vinted Balance
  2. Select Withdraw to bank account

Having issues with withdrawals? Find more information on resolving them on the Vinted Help Centre.

Adding your withdrawal details

Before you can withdraw earnings from your Vinted Balance, you'll need to add the following banking details to your Vinted account:

  • The sort code and account number (without spaces)
  • The account holder's billing address

To add or change withdrawal details for your account:

  1. Go to your Profile
  2. Select Settings
  3. Select Payments
  4. Under Withdrawal options, select Add bank account or Change bank account to change your withdrawal details
  5. Enter your banking details, then select Done. This account will be saved for future withdrawals.

What fees can apply to me?

Currently, we don't charge any fees for Vinted Pay services. If this changes in the future, we'll let you know in advance.

Other fees may apply when you buy items on Vinted under the Vinted Terms and Conditions. These may include the Buyer Protection fee, currency conversion fees, or shipping costs.

Safety

How we keep your money safe at Vinted Pay

We use a process called safeguarding. This means money in your Balance is kept in a separate, dedicated bank account that is disconnected from our business funds. It's your money, and it stays that way.

Vinted Pay isn't a bank, so your Balance isn't covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS). Unlike bank deposits, we can't lend your money to anyone else or use it for our business.

How can I help keep my Vinted Balance secure?
  • Never share your device PIN or password with anyone
  • Log out or close Vinted when you aren't using it
  • Stay on Vinted: always keep your conversations and payments within the Vinted app to make sure they're safe and covered
What should I do if I think I've been scammed?

It's important that you act quickly. If you've been tricked into authorising a payment (for example, for an item that is part of a scam), please report it through the Vinted Help Centre within 2 days.

You will need to provide:

  • Transaction dates and amounts
  • Item and order details
  • User names and copies of any messages
Will I get my money back if I'm the victim of a scam?

We'll investigate your claim and may be able to provide a full or partial refund in accordance with our Vinted Pay Terms and Conditions and applicable laws.

We'll aim to provide an update within 5 business days, though it could take longer if your case is complex.

Am I protected by the Authorised Push Payment (APP) scam reimbursement rules?

Unfortunately not. Since your Vinted Balance isn't a bank account or Faster Payments service, it's not covered by the UK APP scam reimbursement rules.

However, you are fully protected against unauthorised fraud. Under UK payment regulations, if money is taken from your Vinted Balance without your authorisation, we'll investigate and can often refund you.
